Several neighborhoods in northern Groveland are experiencing water service disruptions Wednesday morning after the city’s Sunshine Water Plant went offline.

According to the City of Groveland, the plant’s pumps went offline at approximately 5:07 a.m. Wednesday. The preliminary cause is believed to be a power surge, although the city says the cause remains under investigation.

The outage caused water pressure at the plant to fall to approximately 28 PSI, while pressure along the Wilson Lake corridor dropped below 20 PSI. Because of the loss of pressure, the city has issued a boil-water advisory for affected areas.

Areas affected

The city currently lists the following areas as being impacted:

  • Wilson Lake Parkway and surrounding neighborhoods

  • State Road 19 north of Cherry Lake Road and surrounding neighborhoods

  • Phillips Landing

  • U.S. 27 corridor and surrounding neighborhoods

City crews are currently working to restore the pumps and return water service and pressure to normal as quickly as possible.

Residents in the affected areas should follow the city's boil-water advisory until officials announce that it has been lifted.

The City of Groveland says additional updates will be provided as crews work to restore normal operations.

The Clermont Current will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
